Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is responsible for requirements documentation, reporting/analytics and acceptance criteria. The successful candidate will have significant practical experience with the development of business process models and rules as a modern alternative to traditional requirements documentation. 

Job Responsibilities   

  • Develop business requirements documentation to support website development, including process maps, business requirements, business rules, use case and user acceptance scenarios, and test cases; refine business requirements in accordance with ongoing maintenance of the guroo.com site
  • Conduct current state analysis to gather business, functional and non-functional requirements and constraints (i.e., “as-is” state)
  • Create succinct user stories based on business requirements; review stories with delivery team during story sizing and sprint pre-planning activities
  • Document, prototype and/or demo feature future states and vision using appropriate tools and processes (e.g., “to-be” state)
  • Create mockups and prototypes following UI standards that will be utilized by delivery team during development cycles
  • Develop and review business context diagrams (e.g., business data flows, process flows) to ensure that project requirements align with the product roadmap
  • Identify opportunities to improve business process and recommend solutions
  • Develop reporting tools/documents based on team needs and requirements
  • Analyze product performance through key business metrics and analysis, using tools such as Google Analytics, SiteCatalyst, and Coremetrics
  • Participate in meetings with project leadership to influence process, culture and system transformation
  • Support project leadership in meetings with clients, stakeholders and third party vendors
  • Support product owner with project management activities
  • Prepare status updates for assigned tasks; communicate status to team leadership

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working on and delivering web-based projects
  • Experience working with and creating workflows, wireframes, and other visual designs that span the web, mobile and tablet user experiences
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Honed analytical thinker comfortable with an understanding of micro-level operational details as well as larger strategic issues; data-driven
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of addressing both technical and non-technical audiences at a variety of organizational levels
  • Flexibility combined with the ability to multi-task; comfort working in a fast-paced and growing organization, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
  • Desire to work in a demanding and exciting start-up environment
  • Industry experience in healthcare; consulting experience preferred
  • Minimum of eight years of experience at the senior analyst level in an organization responsible for software solutions development or services to support software solution development
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
