Manager, Software Development

The Manager of Software Development is responsible for a software development team comprised of up to ten software engineers. The manager will coach and mentor team members, work with other stakeholders to ensure the team has defined priorities, , and provide technical leadership when necessary within a particular product or sub-system.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review and approve software designs
  • Triage defects (assess severity, assign engineering resource or backlog as appropriate)
  • Recruit and interview new engineers
  • Coordinate priorities and dependencies across development teams
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of software development best practices.

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of software developers
  • Experience with Healthcare informatics domain knowledge including: DICOM & HL7
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial software development in in C++, C#, or Java with a proven track record of delivering high quality software projects on time
  • Strong knowledge and experience with software development best practices and experience in implementing them across a team
  • Experience with windows application development
  • Excellent written and verbal communicational skills
  • Experience with windows application development as well as web application scripting languages and paradigms
  • Experience with engineering tools such as: JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins or Bamboo, Mercurial or GIT, and Subversion
